India’s Nifty 50 falls for a seventh straight week
Even with Nifty 50 down 0.9% for the week, 28 Nifty 500 stocks reached fresh one-year highs, including Welspun Corp and Zydus Lifesciences.
India’s Nifty 50 slid 0.88% over the past week and extended its weekly losing streak to seven, the index’s biggest sustained decline since 2020, according to LiveMint Markets.
The sell-off persisted even as select names hit new milestones, with Welspun Corp, Zydus Lifesciences, Engineers India, and Indegene among more than two dozen Nifty 500 stocks that reached fresh one-year highs this week.
LiveMint Markets said investors appeared to adopt selective buying despite broader weakness, with market conditions shaped by elevated crude oil prices and surging global bond yields.
The article also noted crude oil has been a focal point for markets since late February, when the US and Israel launched actions related to the conflict.
