Lundin Gold drilling boosts gold grades at Fruta del Norte in Ecuador

The new Bonza Sur hole returned 5.5 metres of 13.75 grams per tonne gold plus 50.8 grams per tonne silver, supporting Lundin Gold’s effort to extend the mine’s 12-year life.

Lundin Gold said new drilling at its Fruta del Norte property in Ecuador improved prospects for extending the mine’s operating life. Mining.com reports the company is working to maintain or lengthen the site’s 12-year mine life by expanding resources, detailing new discoveries, and converting inferred resources to indicated.

According to Lundin Gold, hole BLP-2026-483-D2 at the Bonza Sur target cut 5.5 metres of 13.75 grams gold and 50.8 grams silver per tonne from 715 metres depth. The company also reported a bonanza interval within the result of 3.2 metres grading 23.21 grams gold and 76.93 grams silver from 718 metres.

Lundin Gold also reported drilling results from the newly discovered Quebrada Dorada vein system, including hole CHT-2026-495, which cut 13 metres of 6.53 grams gold from about 195 metres, Mining.com said. The outlet also noted analyst commentary that ongoing drilling at Bonza Sur supports a revised geological interpretation focused on higher-grade mineralization, and that the results point to both near-mine growth and district-scale discovery potential across the property.
