NFM Lending faces proposed class action after Interlock data theft claim

Interlock alleged it took more than 2.5 terabytes of files around Sept. 7, with the suit accusing NFM of exposing Social Security numbers and financial records without timely notice.

HousingWire reports that Interlock’s ransomware group claimed it stole more than 2.5 terabytes of data from NFM Lending, a claim that has led to legal action.

The proposed class action, filed Sept. 16 in the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland, alleges the breach exposed customer Social Security numbers and financial records, along with a lack of timely notice.

According to the filing details described by HousingWire, the monitoring and leak-site notice referenced a posting around Sept. 7, and said employee personal information may also have been compromised.

HousingWire also notes that the reporting first done by Claim Depot identified Sheneka Smith as the plaintiff in the proposed class action against the lender.
