Nifty 50 falls into bear territory on crude surge and higher yields
The index dropped 1.6% on Thursday, taking weekly losses to a seven-session losing streak.
India’s Nifty 50 slid into bear market territory as weak sentiment and ongoing headwinds pushed investors to cut exposure, according to LiveMint Markets.
The outlet said the benchmark fell 1.6% on Thursday, its biggest one-day decline in 10 weeks, and ended the week down 0.9% so far, extending a weekly losing streak to seven sessions.
LiveMint Markets added that the move marks the index’s biggest sustained decline since 2020, with crude prices rising and global yields moving higher as key pressures.
The article also cited worries about potential tightening measures by the RBI as a factor weighing on technology stocks and broader market performance.
