FIIs stay net sellers in September as US yields and oil rise
Through September so far, foreign investors sold a net ₹18,531 crore of Indian equities, while domestic investors bought ₹52,617 crore.
LiveMint Markets reports that foreign institutional investors remained net sellers of Indian equities for the sixth straight week, citing rising US Treasury yields and elevated crude oil prices.
So far in September, FIIs have offloaded a net ₹18,531 crore in Indian equities, while domestic institutional investors have invested ₹52,617 crore during the month.
The outlet also notes that in the latest week, FIIs sold over ₹11,490 crore in equities between 21 and 25 September.
According to Pabitro Mukherjee, Deputy Vice President-Research at Bajaj Broking, sustained FII selling alongside global headwinds could keep markets volatile, but steady domestic buying may help limit downside, with Brent crude, US-Iran tensions, and US Q2 GDP data flagged as near-term triggers.
