Agency data readiness for AI hinges on trusted, consistent carrier inputs

A key risk for insurers and agencies, according to a new industry report, is that inaccurate data can get embedded into downstream AI recommendations rather than being corrected by human judgment.

A new research report from ReSource Pro argues that most retail insurance agencies already have much of the data needed to support AI initiatives, but the data must be trustworthy enough for automated use. It says acquisitions, AI pilots, and agency system modernization are raising the bar for how agencies manage and consolidate that information before scaling beyond pilots.

Insurance Business reports that traditional reporting tools can tolerate some inconsistencies because people interpret results and apply judgment, while AI cannot. The outlet warns that inaccurate or inconsistent data does not just lead to flawed reporting, it can be built into every recommendation an AI system produces downstream.

The report outlines five data capabilities that it says help determine whether an agency's AI efforts move past experimentation, including carrier data agencies manage on a monthly basis. It also provides five questions for leaders to assess where their agency stands today and identify what to fix first.

Insurance Business notes the report is designed to help leaders evaluate their data foundation and improve it before deploying AI in production, rather than relying on AI pilots that may not be supported by reliable inputs.
