Diesel export ban could lift gasoline prices, Goldman warns
Goldman Sachs said the impact could swing back once fuel storage fills up, after an initial price move.
OilPrice reports that Goldman Sachs analysts warned a potential US ban on diesel fuel exports would likely affect gasoline prices.
According to the bank, such a measure could initially push prices lower, but the effect would not last, because it would continue only until storage space fills up.
The analysis comes amid reports that Washington may suspend diesel fuel exports for a period of 90 days, with Goldman pointing to a subsequent shift toward higher gasoline prices.
