Economic sociologist calls for rules to address US pricing crisis

Economic sociologist Lindsay Owens, head of the Groundwork Collaborative, argues that Americans are facing a growing pricing crisis, in which consumer trust in the economy is being undermined.

According to the Guardian, Owens says the problem needs more than public frustration, calling for a consumer uprising and a slate of tough new rules to address what she describes as a reinvention of the rip off.

In her book, Gouged: The End of a Fair Price and What That Means for Your Wallet, Owens includes what the outlet describes as a shoppers' bill of rights.
