Trump repeats claim of best economy as voters sour on prices

The Guardian Economics reports that tariffs and the war against Iran have been cited for rising prices, while 73% of Americans rate the economy fair or poor.

As the US midterms approach, Donald Trump has continued to repeat that the country has “the greatest economy in history,” even as voters and some economists point to higher prices and weaker growth, according to the Guardian Economics.

The outlet links the price pressure to Trump’s tariffs and the US war against Iran, saying gas prices have jumped around 50% since the war against Iran started.

Guardian Economics also highlights that 73% of Americans think the economy is in fair or poor shape, with 48% saying it is in poor shape.

The piece adds that the Federal Reserve has raised interest rates due to inflation concerns, and it quotes Darrick Hamilton of the AFL-CIO saying the claim is “bluster” and deceptive.
