ERGO NEXT chief Guy Goldstein joins ERGO as Chief AI Officer
Goldstein will start the group role on October 1 while continuing to lead ERGO NEXT, as ERGO’s digital chief Mark Klein leaves at the end of the year.
Insurance Business reports that Guy Goldstein, CEO of ERGO NEXT, is joining the ERGO Group management board as the insurer’s first Chief Artificial Intelligence Officer, effective October 1. He will continue running the US small business insurer while taking group-wide responsibility for implementing AI across ERGO’s value chain and markets.
The appointment comes as ERGO’s chief digital officer, Mark Klein, is set to depart at the end of the year at his own request. Klein joined ERGO in 2016 at ERGO Digital Ventures and has been on the group management board since January 2024, overseeing digitalization, group marketing, and global partnerships.
ERGO Group CEO Markus Rieß said the new Chief AI Officer role supports the company’s strategy through 2030, focused on rolling out AI systematically across the business. Goldstein co-founded NEXT in Palo Alto in 2016, building it into a digital insurer for small businesses in the US.
