Hong Kong targets preferential deals for emerging-sector firms

Hong Kong finance chief Paul Chan said the city aims to announce the deals within the next couple of months.

Hong Kong plans to close deals with firms from emerging industries in a matter of months, with preferential policy packages intended to help them set up operations in the city, Financial Secretary Paul Chan Mo-po said in an interview with the South China Morning Post.

Chan said the government is in close discussions with a handful of firms and is working to conclude the negotiations quickly, with the target timeline “in the next couple of months” for making an announcement.

The effort is part of Hong Kong’s broader push to attract international and national brands and strategic enterprises through dedicated arrangements.
