Malaysia promotes durian varieties beyond roadside stalls

Malaysia is working to expand durian beyond roadside stalls and family orchards by promoting the fruit’s different varieties and products, according to the South China Morning Post.
The outlet describes how Malaysian durian flavors vary by type, with some prized for sweet custard and fruity notes, while others are said to include hints of bitterness, an alcohol tinge, or even peanut butter-like flavors.
Malaysia is also using a dedicated venue in Kuala Lumpur, the Kuala Lumpur Durian Experience Centre near the Petronas Twin Towers, where visitors can explore a replica durian orchard and learn about durian culture and history.
The center also includes a theatre show and offers durian-based dishes such as platters and egg tarts crafted with the fruit.
