Marsh launches Archer platform for life and annuity reinsurance structures
Archer is designed to help sponsors build reinsurance setups, including sidecars and special purpose reinsurers, while keeping ownership and strategic control.
Artemis reports that Marsh has launched a platform initiative called Archer to help asset managers and life and annuity insurers set up and run reinsurance businesses, with a focus on structures that can include sidecars.
Archer by Marsh is positioned as a service and platform that uses Marsh’s shared operating infrastructure, while sponsors retain ownership and strategic control, according to Artemis.
The platform is meant to support the design and decision process across product, asset, capital, and operating choices, then handle the setup of the vehicle or structure needed to carry those plans out.
Artemis adds that Archer incorporates Marsh’s actuarial, capital, risk, reinsurance, life and annuity insurance management, and regulatory expertise, with target structures that can span standalone reinsurance vehicles, sidecars, special purpose reinsurers, and dedicated reinsurance cells.
