Pinion Insurance names Gary Maier as US CEO to drive growth
The Barings-backed startup said the US plan’s marketplace has placed more than $2.5 billion in premiums.
Pinion Insurance has appointed Gary S. Maier as its US chief executive, as the startup looks to convert its program business into written premium, Insurance Business reported. The London-based carrier said Maier took over on Tuesday.
Maier joins Pinion from Ledger Investing, where he served as chief revenue officer and led Ledger Risk Markets, the reinsurance intermediary arm. His background also includes more than 17 years at Chubb, work as chief underwriting officer at Tower Group, and a later role at Capacity Group of New Jersey.
Pinion described Maier’s experience as covering the steps needed for insurance programs to reach the market. The company also pointed to its prior work matching MGAs and carriers willing to cede casualty risk with institutional investors.
In describing its market activity, Pinion said the marketplace placed more than $2.5 billion in premiums.
