U.S. hotel RevPAR rose 10.4% year over year in Sept. 13-19 week

CoStar data showed ADR climbed 5.7% to $179.30, and 89% of U.S. hotel markets reported higher year over year RevPAR.

Hoteliers are seeing continued recovery momentum, with CoStar data cited by Bisnow showing U.S. hotel revenue per available room (RevPAR) rose 10.4% year over year during the week of Sept. 13 to 19.

The average daily rate increased 5.7% to $179.30, marking the highest nominal weekly ADR recorded in the U.S., and CoStar said the Yom Kippur holiday travel timing was not the primary driver of the improvement.

Bisnow also notes that luxury and upper-upscale group demand led demand, with 2.5 million nights sold, and that the gains were broad-based, with 89% of U.S. hotel markets seeing higher year-over-year RevPAR.

The outlet adds that 79% of markets also reported increases in ADR and room demand, and that CoStar and Tourism Economics updated their projections in August, with U.S. RevPAR growth projected at 4.4%, up from an initial estimate.
