Apple takes No. 1 spot in China after iPhone 18 Pro launch
Counterpoint Research says Apple captured 33.0% of the China smartphone market for the Sept. 14 to 20 week.
Apple has claimed the top position in China’s smartphone market after the launch of its iPhone 18 Pro series, a potential tailwind for a sluggish handset environment, according to SCMP Economy.
Citing Counterpoint Research, the outlet said sales of the new Pro models in their first three days after launch on Sept. 18 were 12.0% higher than sales of the iPhone 17 Pro lineup during its entire first week last year.
Counterpoint Research also attributed Apple’s weekly gain to consumers trading up, with a senior analyst saying the delayed launch of the base iPhone 18 may have pushed some buyers toward the Pro series.
The report further noted that price increases of more than US$200 on many Chinese flagship models may have shifted the pricing anchor, strengthening Apple’s relative value proposition, as Apple took a 33.0% share for the Sept. 14 to 20 week.
