Banyan Risk launches Red Fox wildfire underwriting venture

Reinsurance News reports that specialist managing general agent Banyan Risk has launched Red Fox, a new underwriting venture focused on wildfire-exposed property risk in the United States.

The venture will operate within the Banyan Risk platform and is designed to combine specialised underwriting capabilities across catastrophe, property, and excess and surplus (E&S) lines with Banyan’s data-driven technology infrastructure.

Red Fox is led by Chief Executive Officer Brian Espie and Chief Underwriting Officer Sarah Kennedy, and it will prioritize long-term capacity, strategic portfolio management, and disciplined risk selection for the evolving peril.

Reinsurance News adds that the launch comes as wildfire exposure remains a critical issue for the market, with Banyan saying demand exists for more sophisticated underwriting and durable capacity.
