Five Hong Kong universities place in THE World University top 100
The University of Hong Kong stayed at 33rd, while the Chinese University of Hong Kong slipped to 42nd from 41st.
Five public universities in Hong Kong ranked in the top 100 of the latest Times Higher Education World University Rankings, with the overall shift described by the outlet as a “historic realignment” of academic strength from West to East, according to SCMP Economy.
The University of Hong Kong held its position as the city’s highest-ranked institution, staying at 33rd place compared with the previous year. The Chinese University of Hong Kong ranked 42nd, down from 41st, and the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology remained at 58.
SCMP Economy said CUHK attributed its performance to full marks across five core performance metrics, including research excellence, patents, research and institutional income, research productivity, and the proportion of international staff. CUHK also reported gains in teaching reputation, student staff ratio, and the proportion of international students.
