Wholesale brokers face tech fragmentation as AI takes on admin work
Arlington/Roe vice president Jennie Carr says fragmentation across the wholesale market is slowing adoption, even as AI reduces administrative load.
Insurance Business highlights how artificial intelligence is taking on more of the administrative work inside excess and surplus brokerages, but the bigger challenge for wholesale broking is getting a fragmented industry to use new tools together, not simply overcoming resistance to technology.
In the piece, Arlington/Roe commercial brokerage vice president Jennie Carr, who joined the firm in 2004 and previously worked across IT, marketing, and E&S underwriting and brokering, contrasts earlier manual rating and file searches with today’s systems that can surface information quickly.
Carr says expectations have risen for both retail and carrier sides as manual processes have shifted toward faster, more connected workflows, while she argues that the underlying job still requires understanding the risk and the markets.
