Canada moves to speed up $1 million-bpd Pacific oil pipeline project
Prime Minister Mark Carney said Ottawa will put the pipeline on a list of national interest and route it through a single federal review process aimed at completion by September.
Canada is accelerating a proposed oil pipeline project designed to ship 1 million barrels per day to the Pacific coast, giving Alberta another outlet for crude exports beyond heavy reliance on the U.S. market.
OilPrice reports that Prime Minister Mark Carney said Ottawa will designate the project as being of national interest, which will send it through a single federal review process.
Ottawa aims to complete that federal review by September, as Canada fast-tracks the Pacific Link pipeline plan.
The proposal would add a second transportation route for Canadian crude to reach Asian buyers, according to the coverage.
