Charney, Tavros break ground on 175 Third St. mixed-use tower in Brooklyn

The 27-story project will add more than 1,000 apartments to the Gowanus Wharf development, including about 250 affordable units.

Charney Companies and Tavros recently marked the groundbreaking of 175 Third St. in Gowanus, Brooklyn, a 27-story mixed-use tower that is being billed as the newest addition to the Gowanus Wharf development, according to ConnectCRE.

The project is set to include more than 1,000 apartments, with approximately 250 designated as affordable, and it will also feature a 28,000-square-foot public waterfront esplanade.

ConnectCRE said 175 Third St. will be the fifth development in the neighborhood for the co-developers, whose earlier Gowanus Wharf work brings 2,200 total units to the area.

The tower is designed by Bjarke Ingels Group, with dencityworks also involved, and Field Operations is credited for the waterfront esplanade.
