Dollar Index holds above 102.00 as US NFP nears
FXStreet says DXY has drawn buyers for a fifth straight day and is near its highest level since April 2025, as traders await US monthly employment data.
The US Dollar Index, which gauges the Greenback against a basket of currencies, is trading above 102.00 during the Asian session on Friday, extending a streak of buying for a fifth straight day, according to FXStreet.
The index remains close to its highest level since April 2025 after touching that peak the prior day, and it appears positioned for strong gains for a third straight week as traders shift focus to upcoming US employment data.
FXStreet notes that US Nonfarm Payrolls are expected to show the economy added 90K jobs in September, down from the prior month’s 162K figure, while the unemployment rate is seen steady at 4.1%.
With investors also watching average hourly earnings for wage inflation signals that could influence the Fed’s policy path, FXStreet adds that ISM reported manufacturing activity expanded in September for a ninth consecutive month.
