Industrial commercial real estate faces pressure as inflation stays sticky
CPI rose 3.4% year over year, while core CPI climbed 2.4%, and the gasoline index increased 3.9%, according to the write-up.
ConnectCRE highlighted concerns for industrial commercial real estate tied to persistent inflation and higher rates, citing a Marcus & Millichap write-up that pointed to worsening price signals. The Consumer Price Index rose 3.4% year over year, while core CPI, excluding food and energy, increased 2.4% annually.
The article said that both monthly readings were the highest since May, reflecting renewed energy and other price pressures amid hostilities in the Persian Gulf. It also noted gasoline prices were higher, with the gasoline index up 3.9%.
ConnectCRE further reported that economic uncertainty, including evolving tariffs, could raise costs for items such as imported consumer goods, construction materials, and business equipment. The piece links the cost environment and uncertainty to added caution for the industrial sector.
