Northern Metropolis could attract Hong Kong universities’ administrative space
Analysts said decisions would hinge on factors including transport links, costs, and premises availability.
Hong Kong’s Grade A office leasing demand could be supported by education-sector growth, and analysts are now looking at whether the Northern Metropolis will draw schools and universities that need office space for administration and related services, according to SCMP Economy.
The outlet cited comments from Kelvin Lee, director at property agency Midland Commercial, who said the new center could become a viable option over the medium to long term for institutions expanding teaching, research, and administrative facilities.
Lee added that Northern Metropolis may be particularly suitable for uses requiring substantial space and close collaboration with technology companies and research organizations.
He said whether universities place general office functions there will depend on suitable premises, transport links, costs, and operational needs.
