Rain expected to ease drought in some winter wheat regions

World Grain expects drought relief over western Europe in October and November and in US hard red winter wheat areas over the coming weeks.

World Grain reports that relief is expected for some of the driest winter crop areas in the Northern Hemisphere during the next few weeks.

The outlet says rain is forecast to ease drought in western Europe during October and November, and a similar recovery is predicted for US hard red winter wheat production areas.

World Grain also notes that dryness in the Black Sea region is easing, but much more rain is needed to restore soil moisture to normal.

It attributes part of the summer season's weather stagnation to El Niño, alongside a blocking weather pattern over western Europe and a shift in a high pressure ridge over western North America into the Great Plains.
