Samsung Life and Samsung Fire & Marine invest in Helix
Samsung Electronics is contributing $500 million, and Helix plans to build and operate data centers with the power and network infrastructure to support them.
Samsung Life Insurance and Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance are among six Samsung affiliates investing a combined $1 billion in Helix Digital Infrastructure, an AI infrastructure company established by KKR, according to Coverager.
The announcement says Samsung Electronics will contribute $500 million, while the remaining $500 million is not detailed across the other affiliates.
Helix, launched in June, plans to develop and operate data centers alongside the power and network infrastructure needed to support them. The company is led by former Amazon Web Services CEO Adam Selipsky.
Coverager reports that KKR, the Kuwait Investment Authority, NVIDIA, and U.S. power company Vistra are also founding investors, and Samsung said the investment could create opportunities for its affiliates across semiconductors, data center construction, cooling systems, IT services, and backup power.
