Houthis claim attack on oil facility near Saudi capital as strikes trade
The Houthis also accused Saudi forces of striking Sanaa with 26 strikes, and correspondents in the Yemeni capital reported hearing explosions and seeing missiles hit the city.
Yemen’s Houthis claimed they attacked an oil facility near Saudi Arabia’s capital on Saturday, with flames and smoke reported at the site, according to Agence France-Presse via SCMP Economy.
The report said the Houthis accused Saudi forces of striking Sanaa dozens of times, following earlier Houthi-affiliated coverage that cited “Saudi aggression” against the Yemeni capital.
SCMP Economy reported that Houthi-affiliated channel Al-Masirah TV said “Saudi enemy aircraft” hit Sanaa with 26 strikes, while two correspondents in the city reported hearing loud explosions and seeing warplanes firing missiles at Sanaa.
The publication noted the backdrop to the latest exchange, saying the strikes have continued since the Houthis seized all of Yemen’s Red Sea coast and took control of the Bab al-Mandab strait last month.
