Corgi Insurance launches data centre coverage with GPU residual protection

The new policy is designed to cover a data centre’s full life cycle, including power and cooling systems, and offers business income protection if a covered loss forces a site offline.

AI-native insurer Corgi Insurance has launched a new specialized insurance coverage for data centres, aiming to protect construction and commissioning through ongoing operations, as well as the hardware that powers computing workloads, according to Reinsurance News.

The coverage is built to span the full life cycle of a data centre and includes protection for critical property and infrastructure such as power, cooling, and UPS systems once the facility is operational, along with business income coverage when a covered loss takes a site offline.

Corgi said the program also targets GPUs, introducing residual value protection intended to help safeguard GPU hardware as a financeable asset for equipment supporting AI and high-performance computing workloads.

The insurer said the product is aimed at colocation operators, GPU cloud and AI compute hosts, enterprise and edge data centres, and the developers building these facilities.
