EU EV sales hit all-time high as fuel prices climb
Between January and August, battery-electric vehicle sales rose 45% year over year, according to Transport & Environment.
Record-high fuel prices and a growing number of newly available affordable electric vehicle models have pushed European Union EV sales to an all-time high this year, Transport & Environment said in a report Monday, as cited by OilPrice.
The group linked the increase to rising fuel costs alongside more competitively priced EV options across the market.
OilPrice said Transport & Environment reported that from January through August, sales of battery electric vehicles jumped 45% from a year earlier, reaching as many as 1.
The report attributed the momentum to both the affordability of new BEV offerings and the impact of surging fuel prices on consumer choices.
