Floating power plants aim to expand clean energy beyond land limits

OilPrice says the push for renewable power is increasingly constrained by land requirements, as utility-scale solar and wind projects take up large areas and face growing legal resistance from communities where they are planned.

The outlet argues that clean energy expansion is still needed to meet climate targets, but traditional onshore buildouts are becoming harder to execute.

In response to these land and permitting hurdles, OilPrice highlights floating power plants as a potential new route to add clean energy capacity without relying on the same types of land development.
