Independent insurance agents spend over two hours daily on admin

The time adds up to manual data entry, duplicate carrier submissions, and technology tools that do not connect, limiting agents time for selling and advising.

Independent insurance agents spend more than two hours per day on manual administrative work, including rekeying data between systems that do not integrate, according to an annual survey cited by Insurance Business.

The outlet reports the same survey also found agents spend time completing carrier submission forms that largely repeat fields, while managing a patchwork technology stack built from tools that each address a single task.

EZLynx attributes the issue to what its executive describes as a consolidation failure rather than a pure technology problem, Insurance Business writes.

Rob Bourne, EZLynx general manager, said agents may expect the day to focus on landing customers and advising them, but instead spend substantial time on administration and questions he characterizes as routine, the outlet reported at Applied Net 2026.
