Insurance executives discuss using AI to drive growth

A keynote speaker at Zywave’s 2026 Horizon conference said AI is changing the pace of change unevenly across the insurance industry.

Coverager reports that Zywave’s Jeff Cohen interviewed NFP commercial risk President Tom Gillingham in a fireside chat focused on growth, talent, and how the insurance industry can harness AI.

The interview says Gillingham, an advocate for narrowing focus to own a niche and expand premium potential, delivered the keynote at the 2026 Zywave Horizon: Digital Distribution Conference in New York City, and the Q&A follows up on ideas from that keynote.

Coverager adds that Gillingham addressed the idea that some audiences are “overreacting to noise dressed up as disruption,” arguing that while the pace of change is real due to AI and other factors, it is not happening everywhere all at once.
