Marsh Re expects insurance-linked securities and parametric markets to build
Insurance broker Marsh Re’s APAC chief executive Tony Gallagher said insurance-linked securities and parametric markets in Asia-Pacific have room to expand as the region continues building broader ecosystems for risk transfer.
Speaking to Artemis at the Rendez-Vous de Septembre in Monte Carlo, Gallagher pointed to growth potential in both the ILS market and the parametric market, noting that APAC has moved beyond isolated transactions.
The article says rating agencies including Fitch have previously expected a steady rise in Asian ILS issuance, supported by fixed income market development and growing climate awareness, alongside regulatory measures.
Gallagher added that, compared with the U.S., the number of catastrophe bonds remains relatively small, and ILS remains relatively small in APAC as the market continues to develop, Artemis reported.
