NSE and BSE trade lower as experts favor NSE in derivatives

A comparison of profitability and derivatives market share is driving the preference, with NSE cited at ₹10,000 crore in FY26 versus BSE at about ₹3,000 crore.

LiveMint Markets notes that BSE shares have been under selling pressure since SEBI approved the NSE IPO, with BSE trading more than 30% below its record high of ₹4,446.80.

The outlet also points to relative pricing for NSE, saying the NSE share listed on the BSE is at a tepid ₹15 per-share premium and has slipped below its upper price band of ₹1,785, with the NSE share cited around ₹1,730.

According to stock market experts cited by LiveMint Markets, both exchanges are viewed as fundamentally strong portfolio stocks, but NSE is favored when profitability and derivatives segment market share are considered.

The article says NSE profitability is expected to stand at ₹10,000 crore in FY26, compared with BSE profitability of about ₹3,000 crore, and adds that the gap between the two exchanges is expected to widen.
