Strategy buys 334 Bitcoin in smallest 2026 purchase

The company bought 334 BTC for $28.7 million between Oct. 1 and Oct. 4, bringing its holdings to 848,000 BTC.

Strategy, formerly MicroStrategy, made what it described as its smallest positive Bitcoin purchase of 2026, buying 334 BTC for $28.7 million. In an Oct. 5 filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission, the company said the purchase took place between Oct. 1 and Oct. 4 at an average price of $85,838.80.

The acquisition brought Strategy’s total Bitcoin holdings to 848,000 BTC and fell below its previous yearly low of 520 BTC bought in June. The purchase also contrasted with Bitcoin’s performance, as Strategy’s existing Bitcoin position benefited from a 43% rally during the third quarter.

According to the filing, Strategy estimated a $20.91 billion digital asset gain for the quarter under fair-value accounting, lifting the carrying value of its holdings to $70.82 billion as of Sept. 30. Strategy noted the gain did not represent realized trading profit, and that the Bitcoin value rose above its roughly $63.97 billion aggregate acquisition cost.

CryptoSlate also reported that comparatively little new capital went into adding Bitcoin during the past week, with Strategy selling 92,894 MSTR shares for $15.7 million to help finance the latest purchase.
