Taylor to vote on annexation and zoning for 664-acre data center campus
The proposed Taylor Technology Campus would cover 664 acres and is estimated to generate nearly $5B in economic output for Williamson County over the next two decades.
The city of Taylor, in metro Austin, is set to consider annexation and zoning for a proposed 664-acre data center campus during a city council meeting on Thursday, the Austin Business Journal reported, citing coverage by Bisnow.
The Taylor Technology Campus, planned at 3301 Farm to Market Road 112, would be developed by Big Watt Digital LLC, based in South Dakota, and PowerHouse Data Centers, based in Virginia, and the parties project nearly $5B in economic output for Williamson County over the next two decades, according to the report.
The developers say the campus could include 500 megawatts of data center load plus behind-the-meter on-site power generation, and an additional 500 MW tied to an unidentified tenant, the article said.
In early September, the developers withdrew an earlier annexation request to further negotiate regulatory standards including noise, water use, setbacks, and community benefits, while local opponents are expected to raise concerns about water and power usage, noise, light and air pollution, and potential community displacement, Bisnow added.
