Applied Systems exec targets broker workflow frictions with Epic analytics
Epic serves 200,000 active users who run more than 200 million searches per year, shaping the product changes Lane is pursuing.
Matt Lane, senior vice president of product at Applied Systems, says his work on the company’s Epic agency management system starts with how brokers operate day to day, rather than with what the technology can do. Lane described the industry as collaborative but still early in many aspects of digital transformation, and he is focusing on reducing friction points in the broker workflow. (Insurance Business)
At Applied Net 2026 in Washington, DC, Lane said Epic has 200,000 active users, with each spending about two hours per day in the system. He also said the user base conducts more than 200 million searches per year to find policy records, client information, documents in attachments, and scanned files that previously required opening and manual searching. Lane said he uses Pendo, a product analytics platform, to pinpoint where users get stuck and how product improvements should address those issues, going beyond a software upgrade as part of his broader three-year effort to map friction points across the workflow. (Insurance Business)
