AstraZeneca to invest $1 billion to expand Massachusetts workforce
ConnectCRE reports the company’s new 570,000-square-foot Kendall Square R&D center will support nearly 2,000 researchers and scientists.
AstraZeneca plans to spend $1 billion to grow its workforce in Massachusetts by 50% over the coming years, according to ConnectCRE.
The UK-based biopharmaceutical company has opened a 570,000-square-foot research and development center in Cambridge’s Kendall Square, building on its existing presence in Cambridge and Boston.
ConnectCRE says the new facility at 290 Binney St. will be home to nearly 2,000 researchers and scientists, alongside a separate site for genomic medicine at 100 Binney St.
The article also notes the Kendall Square R&D center includes ten floors of interconnecting laboratories and will support work across AstraZeneca’s oncology, cell therapy, chronic disease, and rare disease pipeline.
