BlueCrest Capital Management faces multiple portfolio manager departures

A report said about 10 employees have either left or are preparing to leave, with the reasons not clear and the firm not responding to requests for comment.

BlueCrest Capital Management is understood to be losing multiple portfolio managers and traders, as macro hedge funds face a difficult trading environment, Hedgeweek said, citing a report by eFinancialCareers.

The report cited unnamed people familiar with the matter as saying around 10 employees have either recently left BlueCrest or are preparing to depart. It added that the reasons for the exits were unclear and that BlueCrest did not respond to requests for comment.

Among those mentioned is a 26-year-old rates specialist promoted to partner earlier this year, and identified by Hedgeweek as Ben Turner, a former Barclays sterling rates trader who became a partner on 1 May.

Hedgeweek also listed other exits and moves, including Robert Robinson leaving the firm’s UK entity on 25 September, Tom Bowden moving to Wellington, Ankur Aneja departing earlier this year, and Ben Atlas leaving for ExodusPoint.
