Informa to buy Clarion in a 2.24 billion pound deal

The acquisition is expected to add more than 100 events, including the DSEI defence fair and the Awesome Con pop-culture convention.

Informa, the UK-listed FTSE 100 events firm, agreed to buy Clarion from private equity group Blackstone Business for £2.24 billion, according to the Guardian Business.

The takeover will expand Informa’s portfolio by adding more than 100 events, spanning defence and security exhibitions such as DSEI at London’s ExCel and comic book and pop culture conventions like Awesome Con in Washington.

The DSEI arms fair is held every two years in London, as well as in Germany and Japan, and it has previously attracted protests.

Last year, hundreds demonstrated outside the four-day London event in protest against the presence of Israel’s three biggest arms companies, including Elbit Systems, Rafael, and Israel Aerospace Industries.
