Dollar index eases after euro rebounds from a fresh low

The dollar index gave back some ground as Europe and US bond yields fell and the euro recovered from Monday’s weakest level since May 2025.

The US Dollar Index pulled back from an 18-month peak as the euro rebounded from Monday’s low, which had marked its weakest point since May 2025, according to FXStreet.

FXStreet said bond yields in Europe and the US also fell alongside Brent dropping below $98 a barrel, while the yield spread for France’s 10-year debt versus Germany narrowed to about 1.3 percentage points from more than 1.5 on Friday.

In the index, FXStreet reported gains for every other currency aside from the yen and the Swiss franc, which it said are typically bought when investors are nervous.

The outlet linked part of the oil decline to a Group of Seven plan to release 100 million barrels of emergency stocks over four months, sending Brent back below key levels after Monday’s high above 102.50.
