Dollar slips toward two-day lows as France fiscal jitters ease

EUR/USD rebounds toward weekly highs near 1.1280, while USD/JPY moves above 158.00 ahead of multiple US data and Fed-related releases.

The US dollar lost ground on Tuesday, falling back toward two-day lows as easing fiscal jitters in France reduced pressure on risk-linked assets, according to FXStreet. The US Dollar Index, or DXY, gave up early-week optimism, broke below the 102.00 level, and faced renewed downside momentum.

In FX markets, EUR/USD climbed back toward weekly highs near 1.1280, where it met early resistance. GBP/USD also strengthened, retargeting the 1.3300 area on a softer greenback, while USD/JPY moved above the 158.00 barrier, though FXStreet said the strength was not fully convincing.

FXStreet also pointed to an upcoming US and European calendar, including MBA Mortgage Applications, the NY Fed’s Consumer Inflation Expectations, and the release of FOMC Minutes. The schedule also includes comments from Fed speaker Logan, and European data and remarks such as Germany’s Industrial Production and ECB speeches from Cippolone and Vujčic.
