Hong Kong probes steel bar shortfall at One Stanley development
The Buildings Department said the irregularities did not pose obvious danger, and the development includes 32 detached houses, 11 low rise blocks, and 50 flats in total.
Hong Kong’s Buildings Department has launched an investigation into work quality issues at One Stanley in Stanley after one house was found to have used insufficient steel bars during construction, South China Morning Post reports.
The probe was triggered after the department requested information from the developer, contractor, and relevant professionals. Officials said the irregularities did not pose obvious danger, but they did not state whether they would inspect the rest of the development.
Experts urged additional steps, including inspecting remaining properties and tightening documentation of the work process. Lingnan University’s Professor Yau Yung said the department could consider examining the rest of the development to play safe.
One Stanley comprises 32 detached houses and 11 low rise blocks containing 50 flats in total.
