Indian stocks rise ahead of RBI MPC decision
The three-day RBI MPC meeting runs through Oct. 7, with the rate decision due Oct. 7, while the Sensex has gained over 1,000 points this week and the Nifty 50 over 300 points in two straight sessions.
Indian markets have rebounded in the past two sessions ahead of the Reserve Bank of India’s three-day monetary policy committee meeting, with buying lifting both major benchmarks after a weak prior week, LiveMint Markets reported.
The BSE Sensex has risen over 1,000 points this week, and the Nifty 50 has added over 300 points across the last two successive sessions as the RBI MPC meeting started this Monday, with its outcome due on Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2026.
Market participants cited expectations that the RBI may keep interest rates unchanged, alongside moves in global oil prices, with Brent crude slipping below $100 per barrel due to easing supply chain disruptions in the Middle East and short covering by foreign portfolio investors.
The report also pointed to optimism after positive US inflation and Non-Farm Payroll data that the US Fed may not hike rates at its October 2026 meeting, adding to risk sentiment in India.
