New York Wall Street profits rose 51.3% to $45.9 billion in 2026H1
New York State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli said profits through June 30 already exceeded the city’s full-year projection of $45.3 billion.
New York State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli reported that Wall Street profits in the securities industry rose 51.3% year over year to $45.9 billion through June 30, 2026, surpassing the city’s full-year projection of $45.3 billion, according to ConnectCRE.
DiNapoli said profits could exceed a record $90 billion for 2026 if the current pace is maintained.
He also noted that industry jobs reached a record high in 2026 and expects the 2026 bonus pool to increase, compared with the city’s projection of a 20% decline.
ConnectCRE attributed DiNapoli’s view of the strong year to a boom in artificial intelligence spending, increased merger and acquisition activity, and other factors supporting profits.
