Paramount Skydance completes $110 billion Warner Bros Discovery merger

Analysts expect the combined streaming lineup of HBO Max and Paramount+ to push overall subscriber prices higher, even as the deal targets $6 billion in annual cost savings on $80 billion of debt.

Paramount Skydance has completed its $110 billion (£82.8 billion) merger with Warner Bros Discovery, creating a single entertainment group branded Skydance.

The combined company brings together franchises including Harry Potter and Game of Thrones, and it includes Warner Bros assets such as HBO Max, with Paramount Skydance’s Paramount+ lineup featuring shows like Yellowstone, Parks and Recreation, and NCIS.

The deal includes strict operating rules covering areas such as film output and newsroom editorial independence, according to BBC Business.

BBC Business reports that analysts expect prices to rise over time as HBO Max and Paramount+ are combined or bundled in ways that aim for profitability, alongside targets for $6 billion in annual cost savings, even though Skydance carries about $80 billion in debt from the transaction.
