Sam Geddes named Active Underwriter at Santam Syndicate 1918

The appointment also comes as Santam Syndicate 1918 continues developing its underwriting platform and expanding its presence in the Lloyd’s market.

Santam Syndicate 1918, part of Santam Group, Africa’s non-life insurer, said Sam Geddes will assume the responsibilities of Active Underwriter while continuing as Chief Executive Officer. He will report to Gareth Beaver, CEO of Santam Specialist Solutions.

Reinsurance News reported that Santam Syndicate 1918 made the change as it develops its underwriting platform and expands its Lloyd’s market presence. The outlet said the move is part of the syndicate’s efforts to support sustainable growth.

The insurer also promoted Sam Tierney and Briyangha, also known as Brie, Suthagaran from Assistant Underwriters to Underwriters in its Property D&F team. Both will report to Nigel Tatlock, Head of Property, and the company said the promotions reflect their contributions and underwriting expertise development.

In a statement, Geddes said the progress made over the past year has been exceptional, noting the team he helped build, the underwriting proposition he strengthened, and the platform needed for sustainable growth.
