Trump signs order easing diesel fuel restrictions for cost relief
WTI was down 2.2% on the day at $88.35 as the order was announced, according to the outlet covering the move.
U.S. President Donald Trump signed an executive order to ease restrictions on a tax-exempt variety of diesel fuel, according to FXStreet, citing Bloomberg.
Trump said the measure would waive the off-road requirement and allow people to buy tax-free, red-dyed diesel for any reason, framing it as a cost relief step ahead of November's midterm elections.
FXStreet also noted that at the time of writing, West Texas Intermediate was down 2.21% on the day at $88.35.
The outlet added that WTI is a benchmark crude sold on international markets, commonly quoted in the media, with the price driven by supply and demand.
