UK police arrest seventh man tied to security incident at RAF Fairford

The latest arrest, a 22-year-old detained in central London, is the seventh in a probe into a suspected plot linked to Iran.

British police arrested a 22-year-old man in London on Tuesday on suspicion of a terror offense related to a security incident at RAF Fairford, a US-run military airbase in England, according to SCMP Economy citing an Associated Press account.

The arrest is the seventh connected to a suspected plot against RAF Fairford, located about 160 km (100 miles) west of London, which has been used by American bombers to strike Iran during this year’s war.

Authorities said five men in their 20s were detained near the base perimeter in the early hours of September 27, and a 25-year-old British-Iranian man was arrested in London on Thursday.

All six previously detained suspects have been released on bail under investigation, and counter-terrorism police said a British national was detained in the Westminster area on Tuesday on suspicion of preparing terrorist acts.
