US China panel chair urges Starbucks to close Xinjiang stores
According to SCMP Economy, the chairman of the House Select Committee on China, Michigan Republican John Moolenaar, demanded that Starbucks immediately reverse course and close its stores.
The demand was tied to Starbucks opening two locations in Urumqi, the capital of China’s Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, including outlets in the city’s Grand Bazaar and its international airport.
